Area Activities
What to see & do : Recreational activities at the Bitterroot River B&B are only limited by your imagination. Of course there is great fishing, but the River also provides rafting, canoeing, tubing, swimming, sunbathing on secluded sand bars, rock skipping, even snorkeling! If the river leaves you waterlogged you can head for the hills. The nearby Selway-Bitterroot wilderness area is prime hiking, backpacking and rock-climbing country. After a short drive, you can take a day hike to the top of nearby St.Mary’s Peak. From the 9,300’ summit, you can see the entire Bitterroot Valley. Winter recreation opportunites from snowmobiling to downhill and cross-country skiing are available nearby. The area is very scenic and harbors abundant wildlife. Eagles, osprey, herons, deer, elk, moose, and coyotes are a few of the animals that frequent the beautiful riparian habitat found along the Bitterroot River. The Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge is located just minutes from the B&B.

Directions
We are located within the town of Stevensville, MT, (pop 1908) which is about 28 miles south of Missoula, MT (pop 65,000). The closest commercial airport is in Missoula (MSO).
The Town of Stevensville is located about 1 mile east of Highway 93, the main north-south thoroughfare in the Bitterroot valley. The Town is accessed by turning east at the Stevensville traffic light on the Stevensville Access Road (State Route 269). You will be making a left turn if you are driving south from Missoula or a right turn if you are driving north from Hamilton.
Once you turn off of Highway 93, the Stevensville access road soon becomes Main Street as you enter Stevensville. As you are driving south on Main Street, you will go through our one and only stop sign at Third and Main, and then an “S” curve. Immediately after the road straightens out again, turn right on South Ave. Drive west towards the Bitterroot Mountains and the River. You will pass Maplewood Cemetery on the left, then continue straight ahead as the road turns to gravel. The B&B is at the end, at the intersection of Tamarack and South Ave. Call anytime, day or night, for assistance if you get lost.
